If you look closely you can see how the rising water almost reached the freeway.

The Flooding Mississippi

Our mission has the Mississippi river running all the way through it, so when it flooded we had some opportunities to get some photos as we crossed the river in Vicksburg and in Greenville.  It made quite a mess but didn’t have an effect on any of our missionaries. Just a few members found there homes ruined with the un-welcome rising water.  The Vicksburg ward has several members who work for the Army Corp of Engineers.  They are my heroes for planning and building the levees to hold so that many homes and farms were spared the raging river.

This is a photo of the Mississippi river as we are crossing it in Vicksburg, the bridge you see is the railroad bridge. Because half of our mission is on the West side of the river, we crossed it several times during the flooding.

Tender Loving Care by H’burg Stake

We were treated to a delicious lunch during our Zone Conference in Hattiesburg for the Hattiesburg, Gulfport and Slidell Zones.  We really appreciate the Bogalusa and Wiggins Branch for the yummy taco salads
