History of the Sand Hill Branch

The first branch in this area was actually in a place called Red Hill. There was a small branch building with a cemetery next to it. Many of the Saints lived in the nearby town of Piave. President Strickland whose grandfather is buried in this cemetery gave us a tour of the area.

Sand Hill Branch

Sunday we attended church in the Sand Hill Branch, a small branch located just over two hours from the mission home in Jackson. there is a small cemetery next to the church. We had a wonderful time and learned that most everyone attending the branch is related. Most of the people who attend the branch live either in Richton or in Stateline. Both of those towns have populations of less than 1000 people, and are 10-15 miles from Sand Hill.

March Leadership Training

We held a multi-day Leadership Training meeting to help our missionaries learn to be more effective teachers. We have had several of these training meetings and now have been able to meet with most of our missionaries. This training was held in Hattiesburg. We spent the day learning and role playing and in the evening visited with families and shared with them the things that were learned that day. We always love meeting with our missionaries and feeling of their spirit and energy.

Zone Leader Council March

We had another great council with our Zone Leaders, we learned how our quest for obedience will give us power on high through the Holy Ghost, that we will be aided in our missionary work from both sides of the veil, and that we need to work to unify our mission, and all reach our goals together.
