Being Grandparents For a Few Days

While in the Gulfport area, our oldest son and his family came for a visit.  We had a great time getting re-acquainted and spending time with each other.

We were greeted by our enthusiastic missionaries, Elders Bailey and Davis when we visited the Slidell Ward. We didn’t get a chance to get a photo of Sisters Hills and Findley who also serve in the Slidell Ward.

If you look closely you can see how the rising water almost reached the freeway.

The Flooding Mississippi

Our mission has the Mississippi river running all the way through it, so when it flooded we had some opportunities to get some photos as we crossed the river in Vicksburg and in Greenville.  It made quite a mess but didn’t have an effect on any of our missionaries. Just a few members found there homes ruined with the un-welcome rising water.  The Vicksburg ward has several members who work for the Army Corp of Engineers.  They are my heroes for planning and building the levees to hold so that many homes and farms were spared the raging river.

This is a photo of the Mississippi river as we are crossing it in Vicksburg, the bridge you see is the railroad bridge. Because half of our mission is on the West side of the river, we crossed it several times during the flooding.

Shreveport & Monroe Clean Car Inspection

The Missionaries work hard to clean their cars for Zone Conference. The winner gets extra miles and the coveted “Gold Plate”, a license plate holder that is installed on the cleanest car.  Elder & Sister Erickson sometimes have a difficult task choosing the winner.

Meeting our youngest Grandson

We love it when family visits us in Mississippi and this was no exception.  Brady and Katie introduced us to our newest grandson Brexon.  We had a wonderful time with them and hated to see them return to their home in Idaho

Sister Tucker Loves Mother’s Day

Tradition in our home on Mother's Day means the men take over the kitchen and prepare a luscious meal for the mom's. Katie and I enjoyed Brexon while the men put together a fabulous dinner.

We are happy to have Elder Aguero in our mission, he will be trained by Elder Anderson.

Clinton Transfer Point

Elder & Sister Erickson drive the transfer van from one end of our mission to the other. At each stop the missionaries “Circle Up”, sing a hymn and say a prayer and then board the Van for a ride to their new destination.

Elder Knight Meets Elder Knight

Elder Knight who will return home tomorrow just happens to be wearing a very similar tie as Elder Knight who just arrived today. Any chance they could be related?

New Missionaries Arrive

Normally our missionaries arrive on Monday, but due to mechanical problems with their airplane, our May Elders spent the night en route in Dallas and arrived in Jackson Tuesday Morning. Their was just enough time for some photos, breakfast and some orientation before they boarded the transfer van and made their way to their new areas.
