New Mission President Announced

It is hard to believe that our time serving here is almost done, but we are starting to get reminders all the time that we will soon need to move on and find our life in Twin Falls again.  We love everyone we have become acquainted with here and will miss them and still have it in our hearts to return for a visit or two.  We know the McDonough’s will be perfect  for the job.

Hills Family Visits the MJM

We spent breakfast with the family of recently returned missionary Jaime Hills.  It was fun to get to know her parents and one of her brothers. It was especially good to visit with Jaime and get an update on her life since returning home.   Sister Hills has a twin brother who served a mission in Russia, and has another brother currently serving a mission in Russia.  Her youngest brother Kyle will be ready for his mission in a couple more years.

April Zone Leader Council

We met together for ZLC on Friday and spent our time together learning how to be better Zone Leaders and help the missionaries whom they each have stewardship over.  We discussed the Importance of the Atonement, how to apply it in our lives and how to help our investigators learn about and apply the atonement in their lives.  New Zone Leaders who will begin service this next week are Elders Sheriff, Bricker, Englert, and McGary.

Jerry’s Catfish House

Returning home after an afternoon in Hattiesburg, we stopped in Richland for some dinner at a place recently visited and made famous by Presidential Hopeful Mitt Romney. 

Jackson District

We met with the Jackson District, Elder Green taught a great lesson, we enjoyed our time with them, as our testimonies were strengthened by the faith of these great Elders.  The “oldest” missionary in this group has been on his mission just over 10 months.  After the meeting we told them they could pose for the picture anyway they would like, here is what they chose.  Elders Whiting, Whatcott, Bendel, Hosea and Eisinger & Green

Jackson Branch

We attended church at the Jackson Branch, we love our awesome missionaries working hard in the Jackson Branch.  We were greeted by Elders Hosea, Bendel, Eisinger, and Green. 

Elder Ryan Hintze Returns with his Family

It’s been a couple of months since we have seen Elder Hintze, and now he goes by Ryan.  We are always happy to meet the family of our missionaries.  We know this mom is happy to be with her son as he shares some of his memories from the past couple of years.

Birthday Time

Both Elder & Sister Scott will celebrate birthdays this week so we had a little party to celebrate.  The Assistants made a yummy cake and made sure Sister Scott had the chance to blow out some candles.  Later we surprised them with a Piñata filled with yummy treats.  It was a fun break and I think everyone had a good time.

Hard at Work

We are so grateful for the dedicated service all of our office couples give, they are always doing something to help the mission run smoothly.  President Tucker captured this photo of his brother and sister-in-law, who have gained some new skills and help things run smoothly with the vehicles and media.

Greenwood District

We attended District meeting in Kosciusko, Elder Bisel taught a wonderful lesson, and encouraged his district to continue to find the elect.  After the meeting we met at Pizza Hut where the missionaries put into practice the things they had just learned. Elders Sommer and Bisel serve in Greenwood, Elders Jackson and Kington serve in Philadelphia, Elder & Sister Oakes serve in Grenada and the Jackson Zone Leaders attended to provide some support.

Vicksburg Ward Youth Fireside

We were treated to a visit from the Vicksburg Ward Youth along with our Vicksburg Elders, Elder O’sick, Clark,  & Higgs.   President Tucker helped encourage them to prepare to serve missions while the Assistants, Elders Garrett and Spangler showed the youth how missionaries role play

Madison Ward

We attended church at the Madison Ward and were greeted by our wonderful missionaries Elders Whatcott, Garrett, Spangler and Whiting.

Baptism in Shreveport

The Sister missionaries have been teaching Jordann and preparing her for baptism, following the example of her older sister she asked President Tucker to baptize her.   It was a wonderful day, we are grateful we were able to be part of her special day.

Clinton District

Sisters Urie and Aebischer meet with our Vicksburg Elders, Elders Clark, O’sick and Higgs for District Meeting, Zone Leaders Boggess and Alvey lend their support for a lively District Meeting.  It was fun to Role Play with them, they have some great skills!

Companion Change

We have been so blessed to have Sister Andersen spend a few months in our mission, today she returned to Salt Lake to complete her mission in the Temple Square mission.  Later in the day we greeted another wonderful Temple Square missionary, Sister Platt.  She and Sister VanRoosendaal made the journey back to Magnolia, Arkansas where they will serve for the next several weeks.

Sunday in Clinton, Mississippi

Sunday President Tucker met with the Stake Presidents in our mission along with Elder Ingram at the Jackson Stake Center in Clinton.  I found the missionaries and they let me get a photo of them.  Sister Urie is amazing and is passing all of her missionary skills onto Sister Aebischer who has been in Mississippi almost 4 weeks.  In a couple more weeks, Elder Boggess will complete his mission,  Elder Alvey is very capable and will take good care of the Clinton Zone.

Zone Conference Lunch Hattiesburg

While in Hattiesburg we were treated to a delicious lunch by the Petal Ward and the Laurel Branch.  All three zones enjoyed being  together for lunch.
