The Laurel Branch accepted the challenge by the Branch Presidency to read the Book of Mormon in four months. We were invited to speak to the members of the branch at the completion of their goal. This was a wonderful activity that caused the branch members to have their testimonies of the Book of Mormon strengthened. President Tucker challenged them to pray to know who they could share the Book of Mormon with.
This is some of the experiences that have taken place in our lives as we have been called to serve as Mission President and wife of the Mississippi Jackson Mission in 2009. We are now adding some candid shots of our missionaries as they move the Work forward in this Great Mission. Sorry to report that we cannot include everyone, we try to hit some of the highlights.

Sister Pinto Receives YW Recognition Award
Sister Pinto has been a member of the church for just a couple of years but has always done her best to set and accomplish goals to strengthen her testimony. Sunday we had the privilege to present her with the YW Recognition Award. It was the only chance I have every had to act as a mother and place the recognition necklace around my daughters neck. Thank you to Sister Pinto’s mom for allowing us to know and feel the great spirit Sister Pinto has to share. Just for the record, Sister Pinto qualifies as a daughter in looks as well – she has brown eyes and is shorter than President Tucker and I
We had a wonderful time attending church in Slidell and were greeted by the missionaries serving there. We were greeted by Elders & Sisters Allen, Oviatt & Sisters Calaway and Larson, and managed to get a photo of Elders Reed, Sheriff and Sisters Pinto & Peterson

Clinton / Hazlehurst Districts
We met with these two districts Wednesday morning, and somehow I got distracted and forgot to get their photos, but we have posted photos of both of these districts, Clinton in March and Hazlehurst just a couple of weeks ago. I will post a new photo here when I see them again.

Hattiesburg Zone Leaders
Elders Dietz and McMullin had a story to tell. While serving together several months ago in Greenwood, they were walking down a street and found a doll’s leg. They picked it up(as boys will often do) and put it in their pocket. While serving again together in Oak Grove, over a year later, they found a doll shoe lying in the street. They picked it up wondering if they had found the shoe that fit the foot of the leg they had found several months ago and as you can see, just like in Cinderella they had a match. Now one of them carries the leg in his pocket and the other the shoe, and as happy missionaries they live “Happily Ever After”.

Gulfport District
This week President Tucker interviews each of the missionaries. It is the last chance we will have to meet with the missionaries for interviews. I decided to take a photo of each of the districts. The missionaries chose how they would pose for their districts picture. Here we have Elders Rowley, Whitehead, Reil, Franke with Zone Leaders Sharp and Neunswander.

A Great Time to Celebrate
These missionaries enjoy an evening in the Mission Home before returning to their families. It is always a good conversation during dinner time for missionaries who have spent the past couple of years learning to love and teach the people in the South. They are so happy to be all together and remember the first time they were in the Mission Home, and to realize just how much they have grown and changed.

After a long day everyone is happy to relax and rest at the Mission Home. The President and the Assistants show the new Elders their new assignment. They are so excited to find out where they will serve and who their new companion will be.
